Taiwan’s Typhoon Fury - 130mph Winds And 5ft Of Rain
It packed major hurricane winds that lashed Taiwan for hours and dumped over 1500mm of rain (that's almost 5ft) in the mountains. This was my first cat 3+ to shoot in HD(V) and it left me in awe of the raw power and brutality of a major tropical cyclone. Strap in and let's head deep into the core of 2008's typhoon Sinlaku.

    Our province was supposed to be a direct hit with this typhoon but it shifted it's path a few days before. Regardless, we felt how strong it was. The sky clearing up all of a sudden to it turning dark and gray and the wind picking up again. It was terrifying. I had co-worker who lived in Tacloban and survived this typhoon. She mentioned there dead bodies everywhere and the smell was unbearable.

    Today is the birthday of my grandma who died there, the black out caused the heart monitor to stop working and the IV placed on her. The hospital was under staffed and she died next day morning Nov 8, she would have been 97 today. she was born in 1927.

    Why are you rushing to be in a hurricane? Adrenaline junkies or looking for monetization content? I'm in Jamaica watching Beryl coming my way right now. It won't be exciting, it won't be fun - it will just be a total pain in the a**.

      I do it because I find it interesting and also because 100,000s of people find my work useful. I've also lived in tropical cyclone prone coastline for the last 18 years so know exactly what it's like to have a storm bearing down on my home. Stay safe during Beryl!

    Dangerous yes , but also great surf fishing spot around that outflow. The deeper , moving current is patrolled by gamefish feeding on baitfish caught in the stream. Study the beach for events like this for greater success. Tight lines.

    Don't think you're strong enough to resist. If you get carried out, don't panic. Eventually it will pull you far out enough to escape the rip tide and swim back in. It could be a long way. Even a few miles. But it won't kill you if you float on your back and gently tread water. Don't panic!

    • @jimconant3784
      @jimconant3784 8 днів тому

      It is my understanding 100yards (NOT A FEW MILES) is the furthest a rip will take you out

    • @Mmmmkaaay
      @Mmmmkaaay 8 днів тому

      @@jimconant3784 What I meant is that once you're out of rip tide vertically, you may have to swim far horizontally to the shore in order to swim back in safely.

    I remembered that day when typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines. It was truly terrifying watching everything unfold in real time on a TV. I live in Region III Luzon (and still is) when the typhoon was on a rampage. If I remember correctly, the storm also reached us there and classes were suspended. It kept raining nonstop for a few days which was cozy ngl. But still, when the carnage was over, seeing the buildings in Tacloban gone reduced to rubble and bodies scattered around, it was disheartening and depressing. Rest in peace to the victims of typhoon Haiyan.
